Ghosh Dastidar has also reportedly stated that their numbers have now swelled to 22. Sources have also claimed that the rebel group is expected to hold a meeting convened by senior TMC leader Sudip Bandyopadhyay. Following this meeting, the group will be having dinner at Delhi’s Banga Bhawan, where they are expected to be joined by senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders Bhupender Yadav and Nishikant Dubey.

Earlier on Saturday, MPs Satabdi Roy and Sudip Bandyopadhyay who are also part of the rebel group paid a visit to Union Minister and BJP’s Bengal-in-charge Bhupender Yadav’s residence in Delhi.

The TMC revolt seems to have hit its parliamentary ranks in full steam. Earlier this week, a group of at least 20 rebel MPs met Bhupender Yadav on Monday, to discuss their plan of action. The group was headed by Barasat MP Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar who is largely seen as the leader of these dissident MPs.

The group has now sworn their allegiance to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led National Democratic Alliance (NDA).

The Delhi political storm hit the Mamata Banerjee-led party days after rebel TMC leader Ritabrata Banerjee drummed up support of at least 64 MLAs and claimed the Leader of Oppostion (LoP) post for himself.

Kakoli’s son sends legal notice

In another related development which showcases the glaring differences between the two TMC camps, it has come to light on Sunday that Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar’s son, Baidyanath Ghosh Dastidar, has moved a legal notice against former West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and other senior party leaders, rejecting claims that he sought a Barasat Assembly Constituency ticket.

The notice has been sent to TMC leaders, including Mahua Moitra, Kalyan Banerjee, Sougata Roy, and Sonali Guha, demanding a public clarification and apology within 15 days.
